Hot Toys 1/6 War Machine Part 6 [Final]

War Machine, offline

A few more action poses of Hot Toys' 1/6 scale War Machine after the previous posting. ^^

The "Ex-Wife".

Shoulder missile pod.

That's pretty much all for the review on War Machine. ^^ As mentioned in Part 3, I like the figure mainly for display purpose, so its other features including lighting gimmick are really extra goodies for me. ^^ For the figure's own protection (and lack of space to display him anyway ^^;), War Machine will go back into its box after this review. However, regarding the lighting gimmick, all the batteries should be removed to avoid corrosion inside the figure, which would be a great disaster to War Machine. ^^;

And removing the batteries isn't a small matter for the figure at all. ^^;

(Left) The battery case for the eyes is behind the neck, right below the light switch.
(Right) Instruction on replacing the batteries from the instruction sheet.

The battery case cover and a screw to fasten it to the neck.

Two batteries inside the back of the neck.

The two batteries are of LR621 1.55V type.

The back of the neck without the batteries.

(Left) The battery case for the chest is inside the spine. The screw of the case is hidden by a small movable cover.
(Right) Instruction on replacing the batteries from the instruction sheet.

Three batteries inside the spine.

The three batteries are of LR936 1.55V type.

The empty battery case inside the spine.

(Left) The battery case for the forearm is inside it, but the screw of the case is located on the side of the forearm facing the torso.

The steps to remove the batteries are repeated for the right arm.

(Left) All 11 batteries for War Machine. ^^
(Right) The compartment pill box I normally used to store small Gunpla parts and delicate accessories from other action figures is just as useful for storing these batteries, but something extra is applied to make the storage even more secured. ^^

Double-sided tape is attached to the interior of each compartment to stick onto the batteries. This is to avoid contact between the batteries that might cause corrosion.

And of course, labeling on the pill box about the different battery types and quantity for each component on the figure is very important as well. ^^

A completely battery-less War Machine, but that doesn't affect its overall look in any way. ^^

Since the eyes' lighting gimmick is off, the option head unit with Don Cheadle's face becomes much more "useful" to be displayed with the figure. ^^

With the mask completely removed.
The elbow can't support the hand to reach for the face any closer than this, and the head can't turn any further to its side as it's blocked by the shoulder panel. It's a very wield picture of Rhodey holding the faceplate without really looking at it. ^^;

Comparison with a few other large scale models:

With Perfect Grade Gundam Mk. II Ver. Titans.

The same head height between the two, but Gundam Mk. II has a much broader shoulder span, longer legs but shorter torso - more mecha-like body proportion that is. ^^

With the proportionately bigger Perfect Grade Zeta Gundam.

With 1/6 Jill Valentine BSAA Ver., also from Hot Toys.

A huge size difference between the two Hot Toys figures. ^^

A tremendous figure that has exceeded almost all my expectation for it. ^^ That's perhaps the best summary I can give it instead of having to go into an essay about all the details that make it so great. ^^

All reviews on Hot Toys 1/6 War Machine:
Part 1: Forget style and color, Stark, more and bigger guns is better
Part 2: Mini gun that is full of joints, and win
Part 3: The romance of war machine
Part 4: Average articulation is good enough
Part 5: Running out of idea here
