Soul Stage Act 5 Action Support Type for Mechanics Clear Ver Part 2 [Final]

The base is good, the stand is good, but the clips...

A look at how Soul Stage Act 5 Action Support Type for Mechanics Clear Ver. can be used on Gundam figures and model kits in this posting.

With Master Grade Impulse Gundam.

It's not easy to get the gripper-type clips to hold on to the model actually. ^^; They are a bit too short to grip the waist well. ^^;

No problem for Play Arts Kai Cammy in using the stand. ^^

With S.I.C. Vol. 35 Kamen Rider Blade.

With 1/100 Zaku Warrior with Blaze Wizard and Gunner Wizard

With 1/100 Gundam Avalanche Exia.

Sci-fi Revoltech Iron Man Mark II is too easy for Act 5, since even Act 3 has no problem supporting it.

As long as the clips can be secured to the figure properly, supporting it isn't hard at all. That applied to Transformers ROTF Deluxe Class Arcee's weird and asymmetrical design. ^^

The gripper-type clips can barely hold on to HGUC Unicorn Gundam [Destroy Mode]'s backpack, but since the model kit is pretty light in weight, supporting it is not a problem.

Surprisingly, even though its name suggests that it's designed for mecha-type figures, Act 5 doesn't seem all that flexible in supporting many of the model kits and action figures from that specified category from the examples shown above. ^^; However, this has nothing to do with the base or its stand. As mentioned in the previous posting, they are very sturdy and can indeed support the relatively large and heavy model kits and action figures. The real problem lies in the two types of clips included. The grippers/clamps are too short to clip to the figures effectively in order to support them. Not clearly shown in the images above, but the clips are barely holding on to Master Grade Impulse Gundam, 1/100 Zaku Warrior with Blaze Wizard and Gunner Wizard and HGUC Unicorn Gundam [Destroy Mode]. I was very cautious in moving the base to take the pictures, fearing the model kits might fall down from the loosely grip of the clips. ^^;

On the other hand, the clips have no problem connecting to Play Arts Kai Cammy, Transformers ROTF Deluxe Class Arcee and Sci-fi Revoltech Iron Man Mark II effectively because of their waist design. Except for Arcee, the two figures are of humanoid-type, which highlights the irony of this particular display stand set. ^^; While it's meant more for mecha-type figures, it provides better support to humanoid-type instead. ^^;

Along with the new base and main stand, I strongly believe that a new set of larger clips should be included with Act 5. Most mecha have polygonal waist design that is hard for the small existing clips (where the gripper-type ones are directly reused from Act 3 as mentioned in the previous posting) to connect to it properly. Compatibility is not an issue here. As long as the connector's slot size is the same, any type of clip can be placed at its tips. Unfortunately, that possibility seems to be overlooked when this display stand set was released. ^^;

Speaking of compatibility, the stands and clips are interchangeable between Act 5 and Act 3:

The slot size on the base is the same.

For whatever purpose and reason, Act 3's stand can be mounted on Act 5's base.

The joint's slot size is the same as well, allowing Act 5's stand to use Act 3's pinch-type clips.

While it does have its flaw with the clips, I think this is still a good display stand set for its sturdiness in supporting larger and heavier figures. ^^ From the experience of using it with the figures and models shown in this posting, I'm sure it will be an invaluable tool to support the next figure to be featured on this blog. ^^
