HG 1/144 Genoace Custom Part 2

The forgotten weapon

More specific detailing work on selected parts from HG 1/144 Genoace Custom after the previous posting. ^^

The simulation combat-use gun's color is shown to be dark yellow in the manual.

The color is not indicated in the color guide though. ^^;
Even the smaller head sensors' color is shown, but not for the simulation gun. ^^;

I'll have to mix my own paint to get the gun's color. ^^;
Four types of paint were used to get the mixed color: Gaia Color 025 Orange Yellow (more), Mr. Color GX 4 Chiara Yellow Gloss (minor), Gundam Marker Red (minor) and Gundam Marker Gray (minor).

Painted the three simulation gun using the mixed paint.

Panel lined the parts once the paint has dried.

The knife and Heat Stick are going to be painted as well to make them look more believable as blade and nail-type melee weapons. ^^

Colors for the two weapons as shown in the manual.

The knife and Heat Stick are painted silver using Gaia Metallic Color No. 9 Bright Silver.

The knife's handle is painted gray using Gaia Color 074 Neutral Gray IV.

Panel lines are added to the parts when the paint has dried.

As mentioned in the previous posting, painting the Heat Stick compartment deep down behind the shield is not going to be easy.

With the compartment sandwiched between the two walls, the biggest problem would be to clean up excessive paint later on.
To avoid that, and to make myself feel more at ease when painting the part, ^^ masking tape is used to catch any accidental stroke of the paint brush when painting the compartment. ^^

Painted the compartment gray using Gaia Color 074 Neutral Gray IV.

Bits of excessive gray paint deep inside the shield is cleaned using sharpened toothpick.

Done for the shield's paint work.

(Left) Panel lined the second shield part, the one that form the outer layer.
(Right) Applied the wolf head sticker onto the shield.

Excessive panel lining paint on the beam gun's parts is cleaned using cotton swab soaked with enamel thinner.

The gun's muzzle doesn't look outstanding being in the same color as the entire gun I think, so I painted it red using Gundam Marker. ^^

Black/gold/silver would be more appropriate I guess, but red makes it look special in my opinion. ^^

Even though I did mix my own paints for a few kits I worked on in the past, it's always a very challenging task to me. ^^; As different paints are being mixed together, you can never know for sure if you're on the way to achieving the result that you want, or the other direction that says, "Mix harder, fail harder, discard and redo". XD For the simulation gun, since the intended color has a tone of orange in it, the experience in painting Keropla Kururu Robo Mk-II served as a good reference to get the paint mixture I wanted. ^^

More painting and detailing on the rest of the kit to be featured in the next posting. ^^
