Keropla God Keron Part 41

And he transforms into ... something

Moving on to the transformation design and alternate mode of Keropla God Keron's Kururu Robo Mk-II after the previous posting. ^^

The legs are folded downward and to the back at the hips. This will allow Kururu Robo Mk-II to stand up using the graspers.

Both of its tiny mechanical arms are explicitly expanded, even though they can be deployed in its Space Pod mode as well.

Doku Denpa Unit is rotated to the back.

While the radar unit can be rotated using the first swivel-hinge joint between the mid section and connecting arm, the large knee hinge is used instead as the joint will be needed for the next step in transformation.

Using the knee hinge mentioned above, the entire radar unit is bent downward on the back.

The radar itself is bent upward to face the back using its swivel-hinge joint.

An optional step: I like to fold Doku Denpa Unit all the way until it touches the rear vents just to reduce the bulky and clunky look of the entire backpack, for a very limited degree I suppose. ^^;

By the way, this weird humanoid form of Kururu Robo Mk-II's alternate mode does have a special name. ^^ Based on the box side image of this bundled kit, it's called "Walker Mode" (ウォーカーモード). ^^ It figures I suppose, looking at the long legs. ^^;

Continuing the pattern of having weird characteristics that distinguish it completely from the other three Robo Mk-IIs, this alternate form is no difference for Kururu. ^^; The alternate modes of Keroro Robo Mk-II, Tamama Robo Mk-II and Giroro Robo Mk-II resemble some sort of vehicles - a jet, an underwater submarine and a tank respectively, while their robot forms have clear humonoid design elements. For Kururu Robo Mk-II however, its alternate mode is humanoid in nature, and its robot (default) form resembles a vehicle instead - a space pod. ^^; It's completely the other way round! I had to double check on the manual when writing this just to make it's not me who got it wrong in the first place. XD Then again, that distinction is characteristically accurate for Kururu at the same time. ^^ A weird, mischievous and pretty devious scientist-like character in the team, to have a mecha that stands out a lot for its distinctive differences as compared to his comrades' just because he could definitely fits Kururu's character traits. ^^

With that said, my opinion about this Walker Mode is the same as that for the default form: it's very weird. XD With the only ranged weapon it has stored on the back, and the graspers that can be used as capture claws now designated as its legs, the main weapon Kururu Robo Mk-II has in this mode is the pair of small mechanical arms? ^^; That makes even less sense than the reduction in firepower after Giroro Robo Mk-II transforms into its tank mode. XD The long legs allow the robot to escape faster when the troubles are too much for him I guess. XD Then again, that design doesn't make sense either. The pod mode seems to allow the robot to move freely as it hovers above the ground, so why does it need legs again to walk/run in this alternate form? XD

Trying to make sense of the technologies in the world of Keroro is like trying to figure out the logic behind Super Sentai teams' gattai robos. XD It's fun as long as it's not serious. ^^

Some action poses of Kururu Robo Mk-II in different configurations:

Soul Stage Act 5 Action Support Type for Mechanics Clear Ver. is used to give the legs more room for posing. ^^

Walker Mode ready for combat? ^^;

More action poses from Kururu Robo Mk-II coming up in the next posting, which will be the last one for the review on this individual Keropla kit. ^^
