S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Ryuki & Dragreder Set Part 5

Trying to steal my show? Not today, dragon, not today

A look at S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Ryuki's articulation design after focusing on Dragreder in the previous posting. ^^

Turning the head to all direction is very easy.
As you can see, apart from the head, the neck itself is a separately movable part.

Separating the head and neck from the body to reveal the two ball-type joints that support the head's posability.

Side-to-side and forward-backward bends are possible for the waist.

The upper body can also be flexed to the left and right.

Advent Deck is actually a separate piece that can be removed from its slot on V-Buckle.

The sculpted and painted emblem details make the card deck look more realistic and outstanding, and is certainly more impressive than the tampo printed emblems designed for Figma Kamen Rider Thrust and Kamen Rider Axe. ^^

Rear view of Advent Deck.

Size comparison of Advent Deck with a Malaysian 10-cent coin to emphasize on the point about its small size. ^^

Minor but definitely visible sculpt details on the deck slot.

Apart from having ball-type joints for the shoulders that allow them to be bent forward/backward, shoulder blocks have also been incorporated into them, pretty large ones too, as you will see in the next set of images. ^^

Bending the shoulders forward (left image) and backward (right image).
The black front and rear "sleeve" segments and the entire armpit area are part of each shoulder block.

Using their ball joints, the shoulders can be hinged upward/downward as well.

Swinging the arms forward/backward is very easy.

Lifting the arm upward from the side of the body is limited by the shoulder armor.

The upper arm can swivel around the shoulder joint.

(Left) Standard range of movement for the elbow bend I would say.
(Right) Rounded design of the elbow joint gives the part a natural look on a humanoid figure. ^^

Not enough with just the upper arm swivel, the forearm can swivel around the elbow as well, giving the arm an extra articulation capability.

Very flexible wrist movements enabled by the same kind of ball-hinge combination joint as seen on Kamen Rider Kiva Emperor Form.

Unlike Kamen Rider Kiva Emperor Form, Kamen Rider Ryuki uses swivel-hinge combination joints for its hips. While the range of articulation is just about the same between the two types of joints, the gapless appearance of the hips on Kamen Rider Ryuki is definitely more solid-looking then Kamen Rider Kiva Emperor Form. ^^

Very wide hip expansion enabled by the hinge component of the hip joints. ^^

Equally impressive range of forward/backward bend for the legs enabled by the swivel component of the hip joints. ^^

A nice bonus for the hips' articulation: separated thigh swivel is implemented. ^^

Standard articulation range for the knee.

While the rigid section and clear cut on the joint that separates the thigh from the lower leg can be seen easily, the overall round shape of the joint still makes it a natural-looking part on the figure.

The ankle uses the same kind of ball-hinge combination joint implemented for the wrist it seems.

The front-most section of the foot can be hinged upward.

With all of its flexible joints, a natural-looking kneeling pose for the figure can be configured very easily. ^^

Despite coming from the same action figure series, many joint components on Kamen Rider Ryuki feature different designs as compared to Kamen Rider Kiva Emperor Form. Many parts that use ball-type joints on the latter are designed with various combinations of hinge and swivel joints instead. While their articulation capabilities are more or less the same as compared to that on Kamen Rider Kiva Emperor Form, and in some cases like the hips, more superior, I like how the new joints contribute to a more solid appearance for the figure more than their flexibility. ^^

Some action poses of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Ryuki utilizing the articulation design introduced earlier on: ^^

"Strike Vent"!

"Guard Vent"!
Supported using Soul Stage Act 3 Action Support Clear Type with the figure's own display base.

This is pretty much the only pose I can think of to show Kamen Rider Ryuki posing with his Advent Card. ^^

"Sword Vent"!

"Final Vent"!
Dragon Rider Kick, without Dragreder. ^^;

More action poses from this S.H. Figuarts action figure coming up next. ^^
