Sci-fi Revoltech Alien Queen Part 1

Meet the mother

Introduction of the second figure in this double feature review series, after Alien Warrior in the previous posting.

And it's a huge one. ^^

Sci-fi Revoltech No. 18 Alien Queen

Release date: Early December 2010
Price: 3,428 Yen (exclusive of tax)

Alien Queen was the first large-size release in this action figure series, but that record didn't stay with her majesty for long. ^^; No. 032 Legion, which came out almost a year after Alien Queen equaled the latter in terms of box size. When it comes to figure size, they are both much larger than any other releases in the series at that time, but Legion's overall length of 200mm is still no match to that of Alien Queen (320mm). Technically, if we are just examining the Sci-fi Revoltech series, Alien Queen is still currently the largest single release. However, when other sub-series of the Revoltech line are included, Geno Breaker, ARX-8 Laevatein (Final Combat Ver), Rioreus from the Yamaguchi series are pretty big-sized figures that are comparable to Alien Queen. ^^

Product name and logo of "Aliens", the 1986 movie this action figure is based upon.

A brief introduction of the figure and some of its unique features, including a one-of-a-kind marked down price offer for the first batch production on the front sleeve band. ^^

Standard Revoltech design style for the sides, top and bottom of the box.

Previews of new and upcoming Revoltech releases (2010) can be seen on the sleeve band on the right hand side of the box.

Comparison with No. 45 Ironman Mk-I's box.

While their thickness is the most obvious difference between the two boxes, the omission of the front hard cover on No. 45 Ironman Mk-I's box can be seen very easily as well.
No. 41 Ironman Mk-V was the first in the series to adopt this renewed packaging.

Despite being larger than Ironman Mk-I, Alien Queen's price is actually lower, and the price gap is quite staggering: Alien Queen is 3,600 Yen (normal price inclusive of tax), Mk-I, which was released some three years after the former is 4,800 Yen (inclusive of tax).
Talk about inflation! ^^;

As usual, the hard cover allows the package to be opened like a book.

Introduction of the character and "Aliens" (1986) behind the front cover.

Much of the figure, especially its ginormous crown can be seen clearly through the front window.

Content.

The larger-than-usual box is still insufficient to store the entire figure - one of Alien Queen's arms and legs, and the display base had to be placed separately on a second base. ^^

Promotional pamphlets on special items and other upcoming Revoltech figures (2010).

This is the best I can do to show off a straight out-of-box Alien Queen. ^^; Her majesty is incapable of standing at the moment as one of her legs is still on the second tray. ^^;

The strings used to tie the figure down onto the tray.

The three pairs of spike fins on the back of the figure are partially concealed using individual wrappers to ensure they don't stick together.

Will be returning to Alien Warrior next to have a look at its option parts and accessories. ^^
