Super Robot Chogokin Key of Victory Set 1 Part 1

Preliminary combination

Mentioned in the last posting on Super Robot Chogokin GaoGaiGar that its review wasn't ending back then. Its connection with this option weapon pack is the reason for that continuan. ^^

Even though I'm setting it as a new review series, since it is technically a standalone merchandise, but due to the significant connection between the two, I think it would be perfectly appropriate for Key of Victory Set 1 to be included as an extra component in the previous review. ^^

As its name implies, this is the first of the Key of Victory weapon sets. Of the five released so far (including Set 5 which was bundled with RepliGaoGaiGar), this is the most important set for GaoGaiGar in my opinion, especially if you decide to get just one. ^^ Even without comparing to the other four, a Goldion Hammer set is most appropriate to accentuate GaoGaiGar's hot-bloodiness. ^^ It also stands out as an important extension to the super robot's weapons, since it replaced Hell and Heaven to give GaoGaiGar's a new finishing move mid-way through the anime.

And just like Hell and Heaven, it requires one to scream out the name of the attack at the top of his lungs before vanquishing the ZOnder monster of the week. XD

Then again, as awesome as Goldion Hammer can be, it's still merely an option pack. I don't see anyone getting this weapon set without getting GaoGaiGar. On that note, while it was intended to be used by only GaoGaiGar when it was first released, it's also compatible with GaoFighGar which came out in July last year as well. ^^

Front view of the box.

Very nice, large foil text of "This is the key to victory!" (これが勝利の鍵だ!)
President Taiga's scream of this line as the iconic theme music begins to play is still fresh in my mind. ^^

(Left) Placed on the bottom left corner of the box cover is the title logo of "The King of Braves GaoGaiGar".
(Right) The Super Robot Chogokin emblem on the top left corner of the front cover.

Pretty simple box side design.

Introduction of the weapon pack on the back of the box.

The design and arrangement of the comic panel-like image series, which show the connection of Goldion Hammer to GaoGaiGar to the final slamming of the weapon is very accurate to the scenes from the anime, but they use the actual Super Robot Chogokin figures as "models" instead. ^^

Comparison with the box of GaoGaiGar.

The right box images of the two sets actually line up nicely to show GaoGaiGar with Marg Hand and Goldion Hammer. ^^

Size comparison with Super Robot Chogokin Weisbritter's box.
