Transformers: Prime Robots In Disguise Decepticon Rumble Part 3

Half-half everything

Introducing "Transformers: Prime" Robots In Disguise Decepticon Rumble's transformation design after focusing on its vehicle mode in the previous posting.

The pile drivers need to be detached first.

The door and rear fender on either side of the car is pulled outward.

There are tabs at the edge of the pulled out panel that help to secure the part to the vehicle mode's body.

With the tabs securing the parts released, the entire roof, together with the windshield and rear bumper are lifted upward and bent to the back.

The hood section is split in half, right down the middle. ^^

A set of tabs keep the two hood halves securely attached to each other in vehicle mode.

The grille and front bumper on each half of the hood is rotated inward for about 90 degrees.

With the grille part out of the way, each half of the hood can be bent downward for 180 degrees to form the leg.

Using its ball-type ankle joint, each foot is rotated forward.

The lower body's transformation is done.

A half-transformed Rumble. ^^

The roof and rear bumper are split in half as well.

Another set of tabs keep the roof halves secured to one another in vehicle mode.

The chest panel (or bottom panel of the car) is bent outward. This will cause Rumble's head to spring out automatically.

Only the chest panel can be bent, but not its back.

Closeup on Rumble's head, but the car component yet to be transformed at this stage is overshadowing most of its details. ^^;

The side panel pulled out in Step 1 of Rumble's transformation is pushed in against the body. As you can see, there's a tab at the edge of the wing that connects to a corresponding slot on the side of the body.

Each half of the roof and rear bumper is bent downward to their respective side for 90 degrees.

Using the ball-type shoulder joint, each arm is rotated downward for 90 degrees.

Each arm is rotated at its biceps until the fist is facing forward.
Also, using its double hinge joint, the roof half is flipped upward until it sits on top the shoulder.

The double hinge joint that helps to enable the previous transformation step.

Done for the upper body's transformation.

All done for Rumble's transformation. ^^

As mentioned in the previous posting when the pile driver was first introduced, the offset position of the handles allows the weapons to be displayed more obviously as hand held missile launchers/cannons, or as pile drivers extending out of the forearms.

In this configuration, the outer-most blade on the pile driver's rear end that collides with the forearm forces the weapon to sit above the fist, making it more obvious as a hand held weapon.

All done for a weaponized Rumble. ^^

More images of Rumble in robot mode coming up in the next posting. ^^
